01Clover pricing

Clover pricing depends on who sold it to you

Clover is sold through a large network of resellers, and the reseller sets your processing rate. That single fact explains most of the confusion about what Clover costs.

The short answer

Clover restaurant pricing, reported and reseller variable:

  • Processing restaurant plans reported at 2.3% plus 10c by two independent sources; your reseller sets the real rate.
  • Software and hardware six reported packages: $849 to $4,447 in hardware plus $89.95 to $129.85 a month, plus $14.95 per extra device.
  • The catch the quote is the product: identical hardware carries wildly different economics by seller, and devices are frequently processor locked.
  • Contract 36 months commonly reported, with equipment leases that can outlive the POS agreement.

The rest of this page is the case for each line, with sources.

Why two identical setups cost different amounts

Clover is the hardware and software platform. The merchant account behind it is sold by a bank or an independent sales organisation, and that seller sets your rate and your contract. Identical countertop hardware can carry very different economics depending on who wrote the deal.

This is why our fee calculator computes Clover from the reported restaurant plan figures, 2.3% plus 10 cents and $89.95 a month, and says on the row that your reseller sets the real rate. Two independent sources print those figures, so they are a fair baseline. Your quote is the actual answer, and plenty of restaurants pay more than the baseline without knowing it.

What is reported, and what to check

01

Six restaurant packages from about $89.95 to $129.85 a month

Reported by business.com and KORONA POS with identical figures independently, alongside hardware from roughly $849 to $4,447.

02

36 month contracts are commonly reported

Ask for the termination clause in writing, and ask separately about the hardware.

03

Keyed transactions reported at 3.5% plus 10 cents

Two sources agree. Card present rates depend on the reseller.

04

Ask who owns the hardware

This is the question that matters most on Clover, and the answer is frequently not you. Devices can also be locked to the original processor.

The six restaurant packages, double sourced

01

Quick service: $849, $1,899 or $2,648 in hardware

Starter, Standard and Advanced, at $89.95 to $109.90 a month in software, with 36 month financing alternatives from $135 to $245 monthly. business.com and KORONA POS print these figures identically and independently.

02

Full service: $1,799, $2,548 or $4,447 in hardware

Same tier structure at $89.95 to $129.85 monthly software. The financing routes run $179 to $354 a month over 36 months, and financed hardware is precisely where the ownership question gets urgent.

03

The per device tax

Each additional device carries a reported $14.95 monthly software fee, kitchen displays run $799 to $899 plus $25 monthly, and the kiosk is a reported $3,499 plus $34.95 a month. Count your devices before comparing any Clover package to a per location price, because a six device room is quietly carrying five extra software subscriptions that a per location competitor would not charge.

04

Activation requirements exist

Reported: $25 in sales within 30 days and $10,000 in card volume within the first four billing cycles. Small print, but it tells you the economics run on processing, which is exactly why the reseller's rate is the whole deal and why the ownership questions on this page come before any feature talk.

How to buy Clover well, since it can be done

The good version of a Clover purchase exists and follows one rule: buy the hardware outright, from a reseller quoting interchange plus with the markup stated, with written confirmation that the device is not processor locked and there is no separate equipment lease. Every element of that sentence closes a specific trap documented by the reporting: the non cancellable lease, the locked device, the blended rate with headroom in it.

We sell Clover on those terms through Equip, and the reason we can say so without this page collapsing is that the terms are checkable: markup in the quote, ownership in writing. Hold any Clover quote, including ours, to that standard, and most of the category's Clover horror stories become structurally impossible.

Questions owners ask

Can I move my Clover to a different processor?

Sometimes, and often not. Devices are frequently locked to the processor that sold them. Ask before you buy, not after, and get the answer in writing.

Do you sell Clover?

Yes, through Equip. We quote interchange plus on it so the markup is visible, and we will tell you when a Clover package is not the right answer for your room.

Why does the calculator show a Clover baseline now?

Because two independent sources print the same restaurant plan figures, 2.3% plus 10 cents and $89.95 a month, which makes an honest labelled baseline possible. The row says plainly that your reseller sets the real rate. A baseline with a stated caveat beats a blank, and it gives you the number to hold a quote against.

My bank offered me Clover. Is that a good deal?

It is a quote, not a deal, until it survives the four questions above in writing. Bank channel Clover is often resold through a processing partner the branch has no pricing control over, and the relationship warmth of your banker has no bearing on the markup in the paper. Banks also sometimes bundle POS pricing with lending or deposit relationships, which is worth understanding explicitly rather than absorbing silently. Take the quote, get it in effective rate terms, and compare it against the published rows like any other bid.
